Limoncello Vodka Martini Cocktail Recipe

Limoncello Vodka Martini Cocktail Recipe

Simple, classy and delicious. I’ll be honest I've never been a fan of super boozy cocktails but I’ve always loved the look of a martini. So when a recent project called for me to come up with a martini recipe I embraced the challenge with a view to creating a drink that would change my own perception…

This creation has most certainly done that. The sharp citrus sweetness from the limoncello is beautifully balanced by the bitterness of the vermouth. Whilst our organic vodka provides a soft, smooth base. A beautiful combination.

Three Cocktail Ingredients

Our Limoncello Martini uses just three ingredients. The base is Barry Island Organic Vodka, it’s so important to use a premium grade spirit as your cocktail base as it can impact the whole recipe if the spirit is too harsh or too sweet. Barry Island Vodka is very smooth and has a slight citrus note which has been extracted from the organic grain during the distillation product. It makes an excellent cocktail base, especially in drinks like this where it’s not going to be drowned out with lots of other flavours, this Martini recipe really lets the vodka shine.

The other two ingredients are a Sweet Rosso Vermouth (we love Still Wild who are a small Welsh  producer who forage their ingredients and make their spirits in their small distillery in Pembrokeshire), and limoncello.

Shaken or Stirred

If you shake your martini not only will you bruise the ingredients but you’ll also over dilute your drink. Whilst dilution is useful in some cocktails, in this martini we just want to chill the liquid so our recipes recommends you stir the ingredients with plenty of ice. If you still decide to shake your martini in a cocktail shaker you’ll need to double strain it into your final glass or you’ll end up with lots of tiny ice shards in your cocktail.

Limoncello Martini Recipe

To make your Limoncello pour the following into a mixing glass with plenty of ice:

50ml Barry Island Organic Vodka

25ml Sweet Vermouth

25ml Limoncello

Stir the mixture until it’s very cold, then strain in to a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with olives or a lemon twist.

Sip and enjoy.
