About Us

Whilst walking our Black Labrador Darcy along our beautiful stretch of coastline it's easy to be inspired by our surroundings. It's here that the idea for Barry Island Gin first came about. 

Created by us to our own unique recipes, the Barry Island Spirits Range are made by blending the finest botanicals with the purest Welsh water gravitated from the Brecon Beacons to create premium Welsh spirits.

Along with our side-kick and bar dog Darcy, we're the people behind Barry Island Spirits Co.

We're not part of a wider group, or brand, or group of brands! There's no investors or tie-ins with any breweries or distributors. Barry Island Spirits Co is fully independent and that's something we're incredibly proud of.

We live on Barry Island in the Vale of Glamorgan (which is about a 30 minute drive from Cardiff) and our surroundings are the inspiration behind both Barry Island Gin and Barry Island Rum. What set out as a product to be enjoyed in our bar (Craft Republic) has turned in to the development of a spirits range that's received amazing feedback. 

Barry Island Spirits Co was created by us, on Barry Island in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales.  All of our recipes have been developed by and are unique to us.  

We now distribute Barry Island Gin, Rum and Vodka all over the UK. We supply bars, restaurants and retails all over the UK (See our list of stockists and find out how to become one). We're incredibly proud that Barry Island Gin was selected as Gin of the Month at Heston Blumenthal's Michelin Star restaurant, the Hinds Head, in December 2020.

In September 2021 Barry Island Gin was awarded a Great Taste Award, with judges saying it was a very well balanced Gin that's been made with love. In October 2021 we relaunched our our products in to our brand new custom bottles.

In September 2022 Barry Island Pink Dry Gin and Barry Island Botanical Spiced Rum were both awarded 1-star Great Taste Awards.

In November 2022 we opened our shop on High Street.  Located at number 33 Barry Island Spirits HQ is the official home for our our company and our range of spirits.  We also stock a wide selection of wines that we've handpicked because we love them and our space is also available for private hire.

in September 2024 Barry Island Welsh Dry Gin and Barry Island Vodka were both awarded 2-Star Great Taste awards and Barry Island Spirits Co was named a Great Taste Produce by the Guild of Find Foods due to our consistency in producing great quality products.
