El Troyano Verdejo Orange Wine
El Troyano Verdejo Orange Wine
A great introduction to orange wine, La Troyano orange wine from Spanish producer Parra Jimenez is an intriguing and refreshing wine with aromas of peach and orange.
Made from Verdejo grapes, on the palate, it is savoury and persistent, with marked acidity and delicate hints of vanilla and spice. It has subtle tea-like tannins and a slight spicy, savoury finish making it a great option if you’re normally a red wine drinker but looking for something fresher and lighter. Biodynamic from a certified organic vineyard this wine has been beautifully made and is a great wine to start with if you’re looking to start exploring the world of orange wines.
Food Pairing: This Spanish orange wine is great with food, particularly appetisers, salmon, grilled chicken and semi cured cheese like Manchego. Best drank lightly chilled.
Vegan. Biodynamic.
Simon J Woolf, vinepair.com, “This wine, from Parra Jimenez, wins the most-fun-wine-I’ve-tasted-all-year award. Bright, tangy redcurrant & rhubarb fruit, with a subtle tannic prickle that does exactly what rhubarb does to your tongue. And a lovely creamy finish that underpins the fruit. Who knew that Verdejo, grown biodynamically in La Mancha, could create this sort of rosé-with-attitude? Super fresh, fun & Genre-busting in every possible way.” August 2020
