Enjoy the unique character of Gafr Goch Welsh Red Wine from Tair Gafr Wines. This natural red wine, crafted in South Wales, boasts a rich ruby colour with aromatic notes of blackcurrant and spices. On the palate, you'll discover flavours of dark berries and a smooth finish.
Whole bunch carbonic maceration allows fermentation to begin in the grapes causing the grapes to burst open naturally. Native yeasts living on the grapes were allowed to ferment the sugars with no additions. The juice was left on the skins for 30 days for maximum colour and tanning extraction before being transferred to oak barrel for aging and malolactic fermentation. The wine was then gravity cleared with no addition of finings before racking and bottling.

ABOUT Tair Gafr Wines
Nestled in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, in a quiet hamlet called Treguff, Tair Gafr Wines is rooted in a passion for sustainable viticulture and a deep respect for the land. The vineyard began with the discovery of an idyllic south-facing field, its gentle relief offering the perfect conditions for a vineyard.
Over the course of three years, the team at Tair Gafr has transformed this landscape—subsoiling, ploughing, and harrowing the ground, before planting 3,000 vines with precision GPS accuracy. A network of galvanised trellises now supports the growing vines, a testament to the care and dedication behind every bottle.
Balancing their commitment to the vineyard with careers as full-time teachers, the founders have embraced the steep learning curve of viticulture, taking on much of the work themselves. Their journey has been enriched by the guidance of experienced growers and the friendships forged along the way.
At Tair Gafr Wines, sustainability is not just a value—it’s a guiding principle. The vineyard is certified organic by The Soil Association, and no chemical pesticides or fertilisers are used. Instead, natural sprays are crafted from the nettles, willow, and horsetail found around the site, while animals play a vital role in reducing reliance on machinery. This harmonious approach has created a thriving ecosystem, where wildflowers flourish and the air hums with the activity of insects and pollinators.
Tair Gafr Wines is a vision for the future: a vineyard designed to flourish for generations to come, with a symbiotic relationship between land, wildlife, and wine at its heart.
