Gafr Wen is a crisp, well-balanced dry white wine from right here in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Fresh and vibrant expect notes of gooseberry and lemon balm bring a refreshing tartness and depth, while aromas of lemon, asparagus and subtle peppercorn add intrigue and lift. Light-to-medium bodied with a pale straw-yellow colour, this is a wine with both freshness and character.

A brilliant party wine and an ideal choice for late winter evenings shared with good food and great company.

FOOD PAIRING

Pair this Welsh white wine with spiced dishes and rich, savoury foods — think charcuterie boards, canapés and pâté — where its acidity cuts through umami and salt with ease.

ABOUT Tair Gafr Wines

Started by husband and wife team Drew and Sarah you’ll find Tair Gafr nestled in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, in a quiet hamlet called Treguff. An organic vineyard, Tair Gafr Wines is rooted in a passion for sustainable viticulture and a deep respect for the land. Grapes are grown with zero synthetic chemical intervention, they do not use any chemical pesticides or fertilisers, they make all their own sprays from the nettles, willow and horsetail that grow around the vineyard and all their animals have specific roles to minimise the amount of machinery used. The vineyard began with the discovery of an idyllic south-facing field, its gentle relief offering the perfect conditions for a vineyard.

Over the course of three years, Drew and Sarah have transformed this landscape—subsoiling, ploughing, and harrowing the ground, before planting 3,000 vines with precision GPS accuracy. A network of galvanised trellises now supports the growing vines, a testament to the care and dedication behind every bottle.

Balancing their commitment to the vineyard with careers as full-time teachers, Drew and Sarah have embraced the steep learning curve of viticulture, taking on much of the work themselves. Their journey has been enriched by the guidance of experienced growers and the friendships forged along the way.

At Tair Gafr Wines, sustainability is not just a value—it’s a guiding principle. The vineyard is certified organic by The Soil Association, and no chemical pesticides or fertilisers are used. Instead, natural sprays are crafted from the nettles, willow, and horsetail found around the site, while animals play a vital role in reducing reliance on machinery. This harmonious approach has created a thriving ecosystem, where wildflowers flourish and the air hums with the activity of insects and pollinators.

Tair Gafr Wines is a vision for the future: a vineyard designed to flourish for generations to come, with a symbiotic relationship between land, wildlife, and wine at its heart.
