Santa Tresa Organic Frappato Rina Russa

Rina Russa is a gorgeous Sicilian red wine in a class of its own. With its extraordinary fruitiness and light body, Rina Russa (which means 'red sand' in Sicilian dialect) genuinely has its own unique style, as the Frappato grapes come from ancient clones developed on Santa Tressa's estate.

It has a very beautiful light cherry colour, with a fresh and vibrant bouquet, reminiscent of wild strawberries and a beautifully balanced palate, with silky smooth fruit, a real freshness running through it and a surprisingly long finish.

A really versatile red, this Frappato can be served slightly chilled (14-16°C) to go with summer BBQ's and seafood such as tuna, or serve at room temperature (18-20°C) to enjoy with cured meats and cheeses.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Santa Tresa is situated in the commune of Vittoria, in the south east of Sicily, at 24 metres above sea level. The estate covers 50 hectares, 39 of which are vineyards.

Santa Tresa take care of their terroir, which is the jewel in their crown. The management of water is fundamental in the hot Sicilian summers so they have invested in connecting directly with a local reservoir and only use natural rainwater for irrigation, without using wells, or taking water out of the soil. They grow their own “favino” (local green beans) to use as a natural fertilizer and very careful pruning provides the grapes with the necessary shade from direct sunlight.
